Effect by level
| Level | Effect | Expected multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | +2 suitable-tool breaking speed | Varies by mechanic |
| 2 | +5 speed | Varies by mechanic |
| 3 | +10 speed | Varies by mechanic |
| 4 | +17 speed | Varies by mechanic |
| 5 | +26 speed | Varies by mechanic |
How the mechanic works
- When the tool can efficiently harvest the block, the speed bonus is level squared plus one.
- Levels I–V therefore add 2, 5, 10, 17 and 26 to the tool's base breaking speed.
- On unsuitable blocks, the speed bonus usually does not apply even though the tool may still lose durability.
Affected blocks and drops
- Pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes and shears through their compatibility tags
- Blocks for which the held tool is suitable
- Higher levels can enable instant mining with sufficient Haste
How to obtain
- Enchant compatible equipment at an enchanting table.
- Apply a matching enchanted book at an anvil.
- Find or trade for an enchanted book that contains this enchantment.
