How to use the Map Scale Calculator

Formula and game rule

Width = 128 × 2ˢ blocks and blocks per pixel = 2ˢ, where s is zoom level 0–4. Area = width².

A level 4 map covers 2,048×2,048 blocks, each pixel represents 16×16 blocks, and the total area is 4,194,304 blocks.

What to check before using the result

Map coverage snaps to a world grid; it is not simply centred on the exact block where the map was created.
The calculation describes coverage, not how much terrain has already been explored and drawn.
